Every kink has a purest-form version, and for anonymity kink it is the gloryhole: a wall, an opening, and a stranger reduced to exactly one fact about themselves. No face, no name, no small talk, no aftermath. Which is a curious thing to want, until you notice it is also a precise description of anonymous text chat. Gloryhole roleplay is the rare fantasy where the medium and the premise are the same thing, and the scene practically runs itself.
Why the wall works
The fantasy runs on subtraction. Remove identity and you remove judgment, performance, obligation, and history: everything that makes real desire complicated. What is left is the act itself and the permission to want it, given by a stranger who cannot ever tell anyone, because they never knew anything. For some players the charge is the objectification, willingly given or taken; for others it is the democracy of it, desire with every social variable deleted. Either way the wall is doing the same job the nickname does. That is the joke of this page, and also the point.
Running the scene
The classic one-shot. Two strangers, one premise, no preamble beyond the negotiation. Pitch it in the roleplay room: "gloryhole scene, adult bookstore back room, I'm on my knees side, explicit, one-shot, DM me." Which side of the wall, the setting, the tone. Strangers writing strangers needs no character sheets, which makes this one of the lowest-effort, highest-heat scenarios in the scenario repertoire.
The ambiguity play. Part of the canonical fantasy is not knowing who is on the other side, and text can honor that literally: negotiate limits first, then agree that identities stay unstated in-scene. The premise is famously indifferent to orientation labels, and for some players that indifference is the kink.
As spice in a longer scene. The wall also works as a chapter: a dare in an exhibitionism arc, a negotiated-consent flavor, a humiliating assignment in a D/s dynamic. Anywhere a scene needs an anonymity spike, the premise slots in.
The one rule the premise does not suspend
In-scene anonymity is fiction between two named nicknames who negotiated first. Consent, limits, and the house rules operate above the fiction, always: the wall is in the story, not between you and a person's boundaries. Negotiate before, respect during, and check in after if the scene ran hot; negotiating a scene covers the drill.
The roleplay room is open. Somebody on the other side of the wall is already waiting, which is how the fantasy always starts.
