What LewdChat is
LewdChat is a free, anonymous, moderated adult chat platform that has been running since 2016. There's no signup, no app to install, and no payment — you open a browser tab, pick a nickname, and you're in. The chat itself runs at webchat.lewdchat.com; this site (lewdchat.com) is the landing site and the home of our written guides, room directory, and policies.
Who runs it
LewdChat is run by a small team of long-time chat-community operators and moderators. We've spent years moderating rooms, mediating disputes, writing rules, and watching how people actually communicate when they're flirting, roleplaying, or having a hard day and want a sympathetic stranger. The guides on this site are written from that vantage point — not from a marketing brief.
About "LewdChat Editorial"
Our guides are bylined "LewdChat Editorial" because they're written and edited collectively by our moderation team. We do this deliberately:
- Pseudonyms. Our moderators are known to the community by the same handles they use in the rooms. Bylines match those handles, not legal names — same as everywhere else on the site.
- Accuracy. Drafts are reviewed by moderators across different rooms (LGBTQ+, BDSM, RP, language-specific) before they're published, so guidance reflects what actually works in our community — not one person's preferences.
- Accountability. "Editorial" isn't anonymous — it's the team behind lewdchat.com. If a guide is wrong, you can contact us and we'll fix it.
How we write our guides
Every guide goes through the same process:
- Drafted by a moderator with first-hand experience in the relevant room or topic.
- Reviewed by at least one other moderator for accuracy and tone.
- Cross-checked against our community agreement and rules so the advice we give matches the behavior we actually expect in the rooms.
- Dated. Every guide shows when it was published and when it was last updated. We refresh guides when norms, tooling, or community feedback change.
What we won't do
- We don't fabricate testimonials or invent statistics.
- We don't write guides about people or content that don't exist on LewdChat.
- We don't put names on guides we didn't write. (No AI-generated bylines.)
- We don't give advice that would conflict with consent — "share what's yours to share" is non-negotiable.
