Someone posts "unbonded omega, presented late, does not want a pack" and three people answer inside a minute. That is omegaverse roleplay chat working the way it should: a shared universe with enough rules that a single line of shorthand carries a whole character. LewdChat's roleplay room has writers who came up through fic archives and know the difference between a rut and a heat without being told. Free, anonymous, nickname only.
The universe, in the version people actually write
A/B/O gives everyone a secondary gender that sits underneath the ordinary one. Alphas, betas, omegas. You present as an adult, sometimes later than everyone assumed you would, sometimes not the way anyone expected, and that presentation reorganises your whole social position. Alphas go into rut. Omegas go into heat. Scent does the work that dialogue does everywhere else, because in this universe people can smell mood, arousal, illness, fear and whether someone is bonded. Scent glands sit at the neck and wrists. Scenting is affection, scent marking is claim, and a scent blocker is what you wear to work so nobody knows.
The rest of the furniture: knotting, which ties two people together and forces a scene to slow down at exactly the moment it wants to rush. Nesting, where an omega builds something out of blankets and borrowed shirts and gets territorial about it. The mating bond, sealed with a claiming bite at the gland, permanent in most fanon and reversible in some. Suppressants, which flatten cycles and are the single most useful plot device in the genre because they can run out. Packs, which give you a whole cast instead of a pairing. True mates, which some writers love and others treat as cheating.
None of it is real, and nobody in the room pretends otherwise. This is not biology, it is a set of gears a story runs on. That is exactly why it holds up over ten years of fic: the gears create pressure between two characters without either of them having to be a bad person.
What gets played most
- Heat scenes. The genre's centre of gravity. An omega in heat, a partner who was not planning on this, days that blur together. Slow ramp beats cold open every time.
- Rut scenes. The alpha side, less written and worth more because of it. Control fraying rather than absent, which is the interesting part.
- Presenting late or presenting wrong. An adult who presents as an omega after a life of assuming alpha, or the reverse. Pure identity plot, and it runs long.
- Courting and bonding. Scenting, nesting gifts, the negotiation before the bite. The slow-burn end of the room.
- Pack dynamics. Three or more writers, hierarchy, jealousy, someone new brought in. Harder to schedule, best when it works.
- Modern AU. Office, university, hockey team, band. Same biology, ordinary world, suppressants in a desk drawer. The most accessible entry point.
Every character in a scene is an adult. The rules hold here as everywhere.
Heat, rut, and the consent conversation
Say it plainly: a large share of heat and rut plots are built on dubious consent. Biology overriding judgement is the engine of the trope, and pretending otherwise makes for worse scenes and worse partners. You know this. You are not here for a lecture about it.
What you do want is the same architecture the CNC room uses, because it is what makes the scene safe to write hard. Limits named before anything starts. A word that stops everything on contact and never gets argued with. A quick out-of-character check at the point where the scene turns. Five minutes of unglamorous typing in DMs, then you can write a character with no control at all, because the two people writing have all of it. Partners who skip that step are not being intense, they are being careless, and they get treated accordingly.
The mpreg question, and one point of confusion
Mpreg travels with omegaverse constantly. A big part of this audience wants it in the scene and a real part of it wants nothing to do with it, and both positions are normal. So it is a tag you state, not a default you assume. One line in your pitch settles it either direction. If it is the part you actually came for, mpreg roleplay chat covers it properly, and the possessive end of it shares a lot of vocabulary with breeding chat.
One disambiguation while we are here, because the words collide. Alpha, beta and omega in pup play mean pack rank inside a human kink dynamic. In omegaverse they mean an invented secondary gender with its own biology. Different scenes, different rooms, no relation beyond the borrowed labels.
Pitching one that gets answered
Front-load the specifics, because A/B/O pitches are read fast and the shorthand does most of the work. Your secondary gender, the one you want opposite you, bonded or not, setting, post length, and where you stand on mpreg and on dubcon. "Beta, modern AU, want an alpha, slow burn to explicit, para posts, no mpreg" gets a taker in minutes. "Anyone do omegaverse" gets scrolled past, because there is nothing in it to say yes to.
Standard conventions apply and this crowd uses them well. IC and OOC stay separated, brackets for out-of-character, and a mid-scene check is normal rather than a mood killer. Para is the default register and lit gets written when both sides have the evening. If the vocabulary is new, the omegaverse glossary defines every term on this page, how to roleplay covers the craft, and sexting styles explains the action-tag format if you have only ever written first person.
Where it sits next to the rest of the room
Omegaverse borders a lot of things. It came out of fic culture, so it shares writers with anime roleplay and the wider fandom side of the room. The invented-biology angle puts it next to monster roleplay, where knotting and mate bonds show up under different names. Pack politics and presented-world plots often start as fantasy roleplay and turn. If you want the direct, first-person register instead of scene writing, that is roleplay sexting, and roleplay chat is where you browse everything running at once.
The room is open
It runs all hours and there is usually someone in there who has been waiting for a partner who does not need heats explained to them. Bring a character, a secondary gender, and a tag list.
