Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-04-18. All rights reserved.

This Privacy Policy describes what LewdChat ("we", "us", "the Service") collects when you use lewdchat.com, webchat.lewdchat.com, and related chat services. By using the Service you agree to this policy in full. If you don't, stop using the Service.

What we collect

The Service is a text-based IRC chat platform. From users of the chat, we collect and retain:

  • Nickname — whatever name you choose in chat.
  • IP address — captured by our chat servers on every connection, used to moderate abuse and enforce bans.
  • Email address — only if you voluntarily register an account. Registration is optional; anonymous use is allowed.

We do not ask for and do not store phone numbers, real names, addresses, dates of birth, payment information, or any other personal information not listed above.

Exception: on-request age verification. In specific circumstances — typically an age-verification challenge or an abuse investigation — we may ask a user to provide a government-issued ID. ID submission is voluntary; if you decline, we may restrict or terminate your access to the Service. Any ID we receive is used solely to verify what it's presented for, is not shared with any third party, and is not used for advertising or any other purpose.

What third parties collect

The marketing site (lewdchat.com) is hosted on Cloudflare and includes advertising from JuicyAds and links to affiliate partners. These third parties collect data according to their own privacy policies, which may include your IP address, browser/device details, page visits, and advertising identifiers. We don't control what they collect or how they use it. Blocking their scripts or cookies may break parts of the Site.

Cookies and local storage

On the marketing site (lewdchat.com) we set one first-party cookie ourselves: age-verified, which remembers that you confirmed you are 18 or older so the age-gate doesn't reappear on every page.

The chat client (webchat.lewdchat.com) and the forum (talk.lewdchat.com) each set their own first-party cookies and local-storage entries to remember your nickname, session, preferences, and (on the forum) login state. These are functional cookies required for those services to work.

Third-party cookies may additionally be set by Cloudflare, JuicyAds, and any external site you click through to. Blocking third-party cookies is fine; the chat and forum will still work.

How we use what we collect

Chat data (nickname + IP + optional email) is used to:

  • Operate the Service.
  • Moderate content — kick, mute, shadow-ban, or remove users who violate our Terms of Service.
  • Detect and prevent ban evasion, spam, abuse, and exploitation of other users.
  • Respond to valid legal process when we receive one we're required to honor.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or license chat user data to any third party. We do not share it with advertisers. The ads on the marketing site are ad-network-served and do not receive anything about chat users.

Data retention

We retain nickname, IP address, and registration email indefinitely. This data is the only practical tool we have for enforcing bans and preventing ban evasion — without it, abusive users cycle through nicknames and return instantly. We will not agree to delete this specific data on request, including requests made under privacy laws, because retention is necessary for the security and integrity of the Service. We may, at our sole discretion, delete specific records at any time for operational reasons.

Chat message content may be logged server-side for moderation and abuse response. We don't commit to a specific retention period — assume anything you type in a LewdChat room may be recorded and kept indefinitely.

Other users can log too. LewdChat is IRC. Any other user in a channel with you — public or private — can log messages locally with their own client, take screenshots, copy-paste the transcript, or share it anywhere they like. Private messages are only as private as the two people in them. We have no technical means to prevent peer-side logging, and we don't notify you when it happens. If you need something private to stay private, don't type it in any chat room, public or private.

Requests from EU / UK / California users

Some privacy laws (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and similar) grant rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal data. We acknowledge these rights. To exercise them, email privacy@lewdchat.com from the email address you registered with (or include the nickname and approximate dates if you used the service anonymously).

We will respond as the applicable law requires. For deletion requests specifically targeting your nickname, IP, or registration email, we will invoke the "legitimate interests" basis (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) covering fraud prevention, abuse prevention, and service security, and decline the deletion. Deletion requests for data we don't actually hold (phone number, real name, etc.) are moot — we never had it.

Children

The Service is for adults only (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we will delete it and terminate the account. If you are under 18, leave immediately.

Security

We use standard operational practices to protect stored data, but no online service is 100% secure. You use the Service at your own risk.

Changes

We may update this policy at any time. Material changes update the "Effective" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance.
